You get a call from your friend asking you to be in her bridal party... All you can think of is.....
Concerning the purchase of bridesmaid dresses, traditionally the bridesmaid pays for their own gowns. However, some brides either feel uncomfortable and decide to foot the bills or simply gift them to her friends. The third option is to split the bill between the bride and the bridesmaids. Below are some suggestions on who gets to pay the bill.
BRIDESMAID:
If the dress is reasonably priced,
If the dress is on SALE.
If you will definitely wear the dress after the wedding
If you consider the purchase as a gift/contribution towards your friends wedding.
BRIDE:
If it is a very expensive designer brand of your choice
If the dress is something you like, but the bridesmaid does not (style, silhoutte, colour, length)
If you want to gift the dresses to your friends.
If your friend is out of job, but you want her to be in your bridal party.
SPLIT PURCHASE:
If the bridesmaid does not have enough cash for the purchase.
If bridesmaid has other things to pay for such as cost of travelling, accomodation, shoes, hair and makeup etc
If the bridesmaids want an expensive fabric, the bride can pay the dress maker.
If the bride can afford to cover the cost of the bridesmaids dresses, it will be a lovely gesture. If not, she should think of a fun outing such as tea time or dinner to say thank you to her bridesmaids.
XOXO
