Bridesmaid duty

The bridesmaids are members of the bride's party in a wedding. A bridesmaid is typically a young woman, and often a close friend or sister. She attends to the bride on the day of the wedding ceremony.

The major duty of the bridesmaid is to assist the bride on the day of the ceremony so as to keep the bride calm. In modern times, a bridesmaid often participates in planning wedding-related events, such as a bridal shower or hen party, if there are any. These, however, are optional activities. Other duties of the bridesmaid include but not limited to the following:

1. Give the matron/maid of honor a break by helping to carry the bride's wedding gown train whenever necessary.

2. Provide plenty of emotional support during the planning and on the wedding day.

3. If the maid/matron of honor isn't already handling this task, keep a record of all the gifts received at various parties and bridal showers (so that the bride/couple can write thank-you notes); maintain RSVP lists.

4. Scout out bridesmaid dresses, shoes, jewelry, and other wedding accessories. Pay for the entire ensemble (If possible).

5. Offer to help with pre-wedding tasks. Try to be specific when you volunteer. For example, say, "Would you like me to help you shop for bridesmaid dresses.

6. In Nigeria, help with packing and keeping the money sprayed on the couple during couples dance.

So when next you are being asked to be a bridesmaid, consider these points before saying YES

XOXO
